Possible Topic Choices

The first topic choice I have been considering would have to be on dreams. I have always been interested in dreams since my childhood. I even record my own dreams and have a dream dictionary to look some of them up in. I would like to investigate how dreams could possibly be a window into a person's mind and thoughts. I could use previous studies to back up my own theories and possibly even use examples of my own. Some of my dreams have ended up coming true and also when I look up the meanings, my dreams have proven quite accurate. I wonder if I could answer the question "how can one use his/her dreams to make decisions in their real lives?"

My second topic choice would be focusing on some sort of psychological disorder. The human mind has always fascinated me, especially the abnormal parts of it. The disorder known as "cutting" is something I would like to research more about. In the past couple of years this disease has become widely known especially among teenagers. I find this interesting because I have some personal experience related to this disease. I would like to research possible treatments and focus mainly on the causes of this disease. My paper would try to answer the question of what actually motivates on to hurt themselves over and over again. I also wonder if this disease can be triggered in anyone or only people with certain character traits.

My third topic choice would be somewhere in the love/relationship category. This has always been an interest of mine, however, I would like to focus on something not so cliche about happily ever afters and so on. I could possibly research early signs of relationships that could fail or even on body language. This is my third choice because I haven't put much thought into it quite yet. I'd like to even do research to see the physical effects love has on one and even the effects of a breakup can have. I would like to also find out what love can motivate a person to do...whether it be good or bad?

First Day To Blog

Well, let's see my previous research experience...
I had English 101 last semester, and compared to many of my friends from other classes, my class seemed to be different. Basically our class consisted of getting The Washington Post every week and writing an essay from a prompt our professor gave us from the paper. I'm certainly not against writing about politics and the world, but it certainly gets old when that is all we could write about. So, I'm definitely looking forward to writing about things that actually might interest me, and topics I could pick. My longest research paper was my senior year of high school which was 8 pages. It'll be interesting to see how this paper will be different and if my honors high school class will actually help me out in college, like my teacher claimed it would.
One thing is for sure, I've had enough politics for one semester...
